Quilled Durga

I am thankful to dear Dr Anisha for placing this order. I have quilled Durga face earlier you can check it out here and here. This is after several years and I tried a different design. I drew out the design for the ornaments and crown and cut them out before I quilled. Getting symmetry on both sides was quite a challenge. I have used brighter colours here and very happy at how it all came together.

Quilled verse.

This is a special gift I made for a dear friend Shobitha . This is her favourite verse .

The wordings was the most difficult part and took the most time. I alwasys wanted to try using the whole bunch of strips in quilling and I have done it here . the rest are mostly flowers using tight coils. 

The feather is my favourite part. I am so happy that they turned out better than I had expected.

 This fun little card was a request from my old student Samyuktha. It was very much fun to quill this. All paper are pre cut 5 mm . I used the beehive technique for this.

 My recent work for Dr Anisha who wanted to gift her mentor with  this quilled work of his Logo.

The words are made with 1 cm paper strips . The rest are quilled from 5mm paper strips.

A very happy New year to everyone. This is my first quilled card for this year. A thank you card for a friend. The flowers are made from 2mm strips and the leaves from 5mm strips.

 A request from my favourite costumer Daphne. Really enjoyed making this one. The thin Tamil letters on the top was a bit difficult I stuck a few paper strips together and shaped them . Most of the work was beehive technique .

A wedding keepsake , which is my favourite projects to work on. It turned out more bigger than I had anticipated.  I cannot believe also that this is my first post for this year.

Quilled portrait - Allini

 

          This portait is made completely from tight coils. My earlier Portrait was that of her brother. 

I have used 5mm for most of the portrait except for the background and neck region for which I used 3mm strips. 

Paper sculpting basics

 

     Earlier this month I taught children from class 6th to class 12th the basics of paper sculpting. 

 I found this free image on the internet. This is also my first attempt at paper sculpting . 

      

     I used just the basic colours that came in the assorted pack that I gave the children . I replaced the browns and greys with red or blue. 

Wedding Keepsake quilled

     I am back with another wedding keepsake. This time I was particularly asked to include roses. 

The lettering is the most difficult and time consuming part. 

 I have used 3mm strips for the flowers and 5mm for the fringed centres.

Quilled Kolam.

 This was made for  a friend who makes videos on Margalzhi kolams and rangolis. So I also made a making video for the first time. You can watch the video by clicking the link below;

Paper bead necklace

 

  Made from Handmade paper. Working on a neckpiece after a long time. 

was planning on making a circular pendant. the cone paper beads turned out too big and so I just stopped at a fan shape pendant.

Quilled keepsake

  A simple flower arrangement around a printed picture, I wanted the picture to look like a painting , my son helped me with that . I printed out the picture and then cut it out. I stuck some quilled elements from 1cm strips underneath the picture to give it some depth. Later quilled flowers around it . I was particularly asked to make these pink flowers from my earlier work somewhat like cherry blossoms. Used white cardstock strips to make the leaf like designs.

Quilled bike

 This is for my favourite customer Daphne. This is so over due I cannot thank Daphne for being so patient .It was not easy for me to start it . I took a print of the bike and gave up several times . This time my son made a simplified digital drawing of the bike which I printed out and quilled over. I must say I enjoyed making this . It might not be an exact replica but it does bear resemblance to the bullet bike that Daphne had asked for.
