More paper beads.

It is Golu time again, with Navarathri fast approaching . We ladies of our library have started work which will go on till the beginning of next month. I thought I would post some paper beads that I made some time ago and again take a break from blogging until after Navarathri. But then again if I happen to make anything nice with paper for the Golu  I will surely take time to post.

These beads are made out of metallic red colour paper rolled into a cone shape and then hand painted with acrylic gold  . The pendant is quilled with the same metallic paper. The tight coil at the center is also painted. This was made on request from a friend for her son's wedding as one of the many wedding day gifts for her daughter in law.

These paper beads are made from recycling a catalogue . I really enjoyed rolling these.

Thanks for stopping by , Have a great day.

Quilled card

This card is inspired by ICR4 colour splash- black and white with hues of blue. ICR4
I made this husked butterfly , I already had a blue colour fringed flower which I used in this card. Really simple one but not so easy for me , just using these colours.I punched out some flowers for the background .

I would like to thank all my blogger friends who encourage me with their kind words and make me like my work more than I did to start with. When it is not easy to craft through the ups and downs ,which is typical of life , the comments that I read make me believe in what I am doing . Thank you all for making blogging so enjoyable .

I sometimes drop my flower into this small bowl (this is half of the round box in which gems chocolate came) to angle the petals a bit. I have stuck a small cone shaped paper at the bottom which also helps keep the shape.

Inspired by Ann Martin's post on Aluminium quilling, I tried a very simple quilling by cutting out a used can. Ann's post shows some intricate work ,do take a look if you haven't yet. If you would like to see how I did it I have some more pictures here.

My Crepe flower card made it to the top three at ICR3 ,
My monochromatic card made it to the top three at kavitha's guest challenge and won the take a quill pill challenge for may.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

paper flowers

I found these paper flowers here.

I have made these flowers using paper from old magazines ,newspaper(comic page) and wrapping sheets. This is a great way to recycle . Can be used while wrapping gifts or for decorating.
Looks very pretty.

lucky wishing stars

box

This is an ideal way to recycle old greeting cards or wedding cards.

Both the boxes are made from square sheets with the square to make the inner box slightly smaller than the sheet to make the outer box ,so that it fits.

I have taught this box to summer class students and also to lot of my students I have made a lot of these boxes over the years to box small gifts for my friends.

To make this box, take two square pieces of paper the paper for the outer box should be slightly bigger than the inner one. I have used an old wedding card ,I have made sure that the picture is at the center of the paper.

Turn the paper around and find the center .

Fold one edge of the square to touch the center.

Fold again the folded part as shown below.

Unfold ,

Repeat on all four sides,

You can see a triangle on each edge of the square. Now make a cut starting from the base of the triangle
until you reach the large square in the center(where I have marked ) on two opposite sides.

Fold the uncut edges along the folds that we have made earlier in such a way that the triangle lies flat on the square in the middle , Stick the triangles with glue to hold it in place.

Now fold the cut edges over as shown.

Stick the triangles of the cut edges too on the square at the center.

The picture is at the center of the box. This will be the outer box. Now repeat the same procedure for the inner box .
