Rosettes

For this card I have cut the leaves and the vines. I wanted a light background for the bright flowers ,but the vines looked very dull, so I painted it again with water colours and since I painted after sticking it to the card, I am not very happy with that colour. But I am happy to have tried paper cutting , I don't have a proper blade , but I could learn to like paper cutting as any other paper craft.
Here I have cut white paper and water coloured them.

For the rosette, take a strip ( I have used 1 cm width quilling paper) of about 20 cms.

Accordion fold it from one side the entire length of the strip.

The length and the width of the folds can be altered according to the height of the rosette required .

Stick the two ends of the strip.

Gently bring the top of the strip to lie flat at the same time forming a circle as shown. I have stuck a small piece of quilling paper to the bottom to keep the shape. I have made a tight coil of blue colour strip and stuck it to the center of the rosettes.

quilled card

My elder son Abinesh turned fifteen today. I wanted to quill a card that would be very special. My inspiration for this card is of course Yulia .
My son has a great sense of humour. He surprises me by being able to talk just about anything. He loves reading books and is like all other boys, crazy about cars, electronic gadgets and football.
I have quilled lot of shapes like a car , a balloon , a kite.. and then lot of shapes like triangle , rectangle ,squares and circles for this card. For most parts I must admit I have filled it up with swirls and curls.Like I always say anything quilled is beautiful.
It was lot of work and I truly believe that a talent like Yulia's is very rare.

with love

I have hand cut the strips for this card. I first did the outline with black strips and filled it with the colour strips.I crimped the red , pink and green strips and filled the petals by looping and the leaves with V scrolls of different lengths.
I always like crimped effect and this particular design looks like it is nib painted.
The letterings I did with black paper strips.I rolled the strips over my quilling tool and unrolled it and used it to do the letterings. This makes the strips less stiff and easy to be shaped. I have stuck punched hearts to the background before I started quilling.

Birthday card

This card I made for my brother's daughter Shrestha ,who turned four this week. My dearest niece completely fits the bill -sugar,spice and everything nice.

I am in awe of  so many card making blogs.  People from India can understand, its not often one comes across handmade cards here. It's not difficult but impossible to get craft stuff here ,especially for paper crafts.
Even though I know very little about card making ,I am not unhappy as there is so much I can learn and that will keep me occupied for a long time.
I have used quilling paper and have tried using a ribbon.

quilling style

I made this card for my dear friend Lakshmi Rani, A bunch of flowers always makes a good gift.
This particular style of quilling is that of Cecelia Louie's . I first saw her work in all things paper , and ever since wanted to try it out. Initially I found it difficult but later on I got the hang of it but, with a nagging suspicion that there must be an easier way.
I am a huge admirer of Cecelia's work, her work looks simple but so effective. For this card I have entirely used quilling paper. For me quilling paper is something precious, and so I hardly use it :). That's another plus with this style of quilling not much paper get used.

quilled flowers

I made this for one of my students as a farewell gift. I did not have a lot of time. It is a simple design but I think there is beauty in anything quilled and that it won't be  a complete disaster.
