Quilled Banyan tree
Always enjoyed Quilling these trees. This is for a special request from Daphne. The names of the families are to be added to the hanging roots. These are the two pictures the completed tree and the one after I added the small details of life under the tree and sheltered by the tree. I have made several Banyan trees and most of them are requested by customers who want to gift there mentors.
The pictures are taken at different times and I like both . The technique used for the leaves here is called beehive quilling .
Thank you so much for dropping by.

Paper cut Portrait - APPA
This is my first paper cut portrait. I am really happy how it turned out considering I had very little choice of colour paper sheets. Some time back I had seen a video on paper cutting a portrait and since then dreamt of trying it . Today is my dad's first remembrance day and I am not able to visit my mother to observe the day because of the lock down due to COVID-19 . My son helped me in reducing the number of colours in the picture and then print out the pictures . I chose to use five colours . I selected from my stash five colours somewhat close to the ones in the picture and then cut them out. I printed out five sheets of the same picture A4 size one for each colour. stapled the colour sheet with the printed sheet and then cut out the shapes with that colour and then glued them one colour after another on a plain background sheet. It took some time to understand how to glue the colours and how to layer with constant practice I am hopeful of cutting better.
Most of the sheets were 220gsm or 280gsm making it really hard for me to cut. I have read somewhere that 120gsm is ideal . I am inspired to try more paper cutting although Quilling will always be my most favourite activity.
